Prevent The Most Common Reason For Condensate Leaks & A/C Failure

In all likelihood, you and you neighbors have experienced times when your air conditioner blows hot air. In most cases, it’s the result of a clogged condensate line. Annual or bi-annual maintanence by a certified technician is important, including simple preventions like changing your filter on a regualr basis. Unfortunately, especially in high humidity environments, A/C clogs can occur any time whether you have a brand new or older unit.

When Clogs & Flooding Occurs

Resulting from high humidity levels and daily use, condensate pipes clog with a bacteria called Zooglea. When the PVC pipe becomes clogged, the water has nowhere to go and backs up into the drain pan. In the drain pan is a float. If the float rises to a certain level, the air conditioner stops working.to prevent a flooding event. At that point there is no A/C. In other cases, water condensate is so heavy that it overflows from the drain pan causing signfcant water damage to homes and businesses – especially in 2-story environments where water can flow from the ceiling.Furniture, computer equipment, and other valuable property can be ruined forever. The fact is, nearly everyone in southern climates has either experienced, or knows of someone who has had a severe flodding event. For snowbirds and homeowners who travel frequently, this problem can escalate leading to unhealthy mold conditions inside a property when not addressed.

Today’s Common Solutions For Clearing Clogs

In the event your system isn’t working properly or blowing hot air, an A/C technician will perform diagnostic tests. More times that not,a clogged condensate pipe is responsible for at least 50% of all service calls. If it is a clog, the technician will manually “blow out” the pipes to clear them or use chemical solvents to break up the bacteria so water can flow freely.

HydroClear – A Smart Eco-Friendly Solution

With HydroClear, condensate pipes are cleared daily on scheduled basis using natural water that flows through your system. There are no harsh chemicals as it automatically keeps drains clean. Following a one-time installation by your service technician, the technology is specifically designed to prevent unnecessary service calls.

  • HydroClear uses natural water to keep drains clear. All other solutions are manual or require chemicals.
  • The HC-3100 is installed once by a technician to the condensate drain pipe.

  • Smart technology includes a sensor that identifies build-up and clears it with up to 60 PSI of pressure.
  • The HydroClear is a clean, efficient solution for year-round peace-of-mind.

Scheduled Maintenance

Every 6 months, or along with regular maintenance calls, your A/C technician will do a fast and easy maintenance of the condensate pipe that includes:

  1. Cleaning any residue on a conical strainer
  2. Keeping the float switch clean
  3. Checking and ensuring there is no unusual debris to impede optimal performance
